HILL & MARKES RECEIVES ENVIRONMENTAL DISTRIBUTOR ACHIEVEMENT AWARD FROM CASCADES TISSUE GROUP

In 2011, Hill & Markes saved an equivalent of more than 1,266 cars’ annual emissions

WATERFORD, N.Y. (DATE, 2012) –Cascades Tissue Group today announces that New York based Hill & Markes received an achievement award in honor of its strong partnership and dedication to furthering Cascades’ environmental preferable products.  Based on 2011 sales of Cascades 100 percent recycled, away-from-home tissue offerings, the distributor conserved 24,331 trees (the equivalent of 61 American football fields) and 1,266 cars’ emissions versus comparable virgin fiber products.

“The support from Hill & Markes is indispensable,” said Suzanne Blanchet, Cascades Tissue Group CEO. “By honoring them with an award, we want to recognize their contribution in lowering our environmental footprint, and in informing end users on the importance of sustainable development.”

Offering a wide range of janitorial, industrial packaging, food service, farm, office, and ice cream products to various market segments throughout the country, Hill & Markes started distributing Cascades Tissue Group away-from-home products to commercial purchasers in 2004.  In addition to receiving a certificate for its work, the company will also be recognized on Cascades Tissue Group’s blog, www.sustain.cascades.com/blog.
